This is a gem of a cafe / restaurant. Real authenticity of food, service and atmosphere as the owner Tiggy smiles a beaming welcome at you as you enter the door and throughout the meal. Our meals of Beyayenetu and Lamb Tibs were absolutely outstanding and the portion sizes as seen in the photos are huge. We wanted to eat and eat and eat, but our stomachs gave out before our taste buds.
At £20 for starters and mains for two this is crazy value. The decor is layered in various traditional items with a colourful lime green washed wall, interspersed with a few office chairs, but it holds charm and character not kept by more expensive restaurants.
Go along, you will not be disappointed.
Lovely lady. Great food. Random place. I had the spring rolls and the Vegetarian Beyayinatu , which was a large, oval plate with many morsels of delicious foods, e.g. chickpeas, beautifully cooked beetroot (I don't normally like beetroot), rice and two types of Ethiopian pancake-like breads. Hearty, tasty and healthy. I am now very full. Note, cash-only. There's a cash machine on Chester Road, walkable within 5 minutes.
Visited the cafe with my wife. Our hostess was lovely, we had vegetable samosas for starters and for the main meal, were served a huge plate of mixed vegetarian and chicken curry's with doha for us to share. The food was lovely, it was nice to try lots of different things. Our hostess even made us a special tea and had us guess the spices. To top things off, the food was very affordable, we were surprised how little we were charged! Very happy experience and will be returning soon 😊
